Mom's Checklist For The Baby Nursery

Becoming a mom can be both exciting and overwhelming. As you prepare for the arrival of your precious little one, there are lots of things that you have to consider, including the baby nursery. This room is where your baby will spent most his/her time, so you want to make sure that before he/she arrives, it is all set and ready to use.

A baby nursery can be very creative, depending on your taste. Today, many moms are considering a nursery based on a specific theme. Having a theme is actually a great idea because it adds more life and uniqueness to the room of your little one. And to pull the theme all together, you need to consider nursery items and supplies that reflect such atmosphere you want. There are so many places where you can purchase all kinds of baby items, including stuff that are needed in your baby's room. The available choices come in all kinds of designs, colors, and of course themes. Thus, there's nothing to worry about whether you are setting up a traditional or unique baby nursery.

Most first-timer moms have a hard time setting a baby nursery, especially when it comes to the items that the room must have. So to help, here is the most common Mom's Checklist for the baby nursery that are divided into three: Essentials, Recommended, and Nice Additions.

Baby Nursery Essentials

1. Cradle, crib, or bassinet
2. Baby bedding and sheets
3. Crib mattress
4. Mattress pads or waterproof cover
5. Baby monitor
6. Diapering supplies
7. Smoke and carbon monoxide detector

Recommended Items for Baby Nursery

1.Dresser
2.Crib, cradle, or bassinet bumper
3.Electronic outlet cover
4.Changing table
5.Nightlight
6.Diaper disposal system
7.Bookshelf
8.Storage basket, bins, or bags

Some Nice Additions

1.Baby books
2.Toys
3.Mobiles
4.Portable stereo
5.Glider or rocker and ottoman
6.Wipe warmer
7.Bouncy seat
8.Baby swing
9.Play yard
10.Wall art
11.Toy box
12.Closet organizer

These are the items that you may right down to your checklist. If one of your friends or family members is planning a baby shower for you, then it would be great because instead of buying these things all by yourself, you can register them at your favorite mall, local department store or online store. Your friends and family members would be glad to buy you baby shower gifts that you really want for your baby.

Baby nursery items and furniture can be personalized by adding the name, initials, or even the birth date of the child. If personalized, they can make special and thoughtful baby gifts for the mom-to-be. This checklist, however, doesn't limit you to think of other baby shower gift ideas that you would want to receive at your baby shower. Of course you can include cute baby clothes, receiving blankets, baby feeding supplies, burp cloths, baby bathing products, baby travel gear, and other more on your list.

Kitchen Essentials - Practical cooking tips to help you make easy budget recipes

Kitchen Essential 1: Pots and Pans

Investing in a few quality pots and pans is definitely money well spent. If you're just about to get married then put some on your wedding list!

You can buy cheap aluminium ones but they will dent and wear out quite quickly, so I would advise you to avoid them. High grade stainless steel ones with a heavy copper base are probably the best pans you can buy and could last you a lifetime. On the downside they can be a pain to clean and they are quite heavy. Cast iron pans are also top end but they weigh a lot and cost a fortune.

My kitchen essentials tip is to use the Teflon coated (i.e. non-stick) pans which are fairly light, easy to clean and don't cost the earth. As long as you only use wood or plastic utensils and do not heat an empty pan for a long time then they should last you for at least 10 years. I like glass lids so you can see what's going on inside without lifting it.

Another practical cooking tip is to only buy the pans you actually need. It may be tempting to go for a large set of  five saucepans which nest nicely inside each other, but you're likely to only use a couple of the larger ones so the rest will just take up valuable space.

Below is a list of the essential pot's and pan's you will need for all of my easy budget recipes:

  • Large frying pan
  • Large saucepan with lid
  • Medium saucepan with lid
  • Large ‘pot' style pan with lid
  • Wok style pan for stir fries

Kitchen Essential 2: Electrical Items

There are lots of fun and seemingly useful electrical kitchen gadgets on the market, but I think there's just three items which really count as essential:

  • Hand whisk - A hand whisk will cost you £5 - £10 from a supermarket, catalogue shop or department store.
  • Food processor - There are many food processors on the market but I think mine is the best! It cost £40 about 7 years ago, has survived all sorts of recipes and baby purees and the best part of all is that all the various attachments come off and go in the dishwasher. Brilliant!
  • Microwave – They're not just for heating up ready meals, they are a really useful piece of equipment! You can reheat food, steam vegetables and make jacket potatoes in no time, so lets use them for good!

Kitchen Essential 3: Knives

Knives are another thing to splurge on! Decent knives are expensive but worth every penny. Stainless steel or carbon knives are the best and all the good ones will come with a lifetime guarantee. Remember it's important to keep them sharp! Accidents happen when the blades are blunt! Quality is definitely more important than quantity, below is a list of my kitchen essentials:

  • Paring knife
  • Large chef's knife
  • Large serrated / bread knife
  • Good pair of kitchen scissors

Kitchen Essential 4: Essential Utensils

You can get most of these cheaply at places like Ikea, supermarkets or even pound shops and unlike knives, these kitchen essentials don't necessarily need to cost a lot of money. It's simply knowing which 'apparatus' are essential. This will ensure you not only prevent wasting money but will also prevent you from running out space trying to store items which are quite literally, a waste of space!

  • Mixing bowls
  • Large roasting dish
  • Couple of non-stick baking sheets
  • Large square / rectangular lasagne dish
  • Casserole dish
  • 2 x Chopping boards (one for meat only)
  • Colander (for draining pasta etc)
  • Small Sieve (for washing rice etc)
  • Rubber spatula (for stirring and scraping bowls
  • Garlic crusher
  • Potato masher
  • Wooden spoons
  • Vegetable peeler
  • Whisk
  • Plastic or rubber tongs (to turn frying food)
  • Ladle
  • Rolling pin
  • Cheese grater
  • Fish slice
  • Slotted Spoon
  • Measuring jug
  • Tin opener
  • Tupperware for food storage

We all have to eat three times a day, so it's well worth investing in your basic kitchen essentials which will help you to cook a variety of meals easily. A bad workman always blames his/her tools - don't give yourself that excuse!

Life Stages and Surecare Adult Diapers

There used to be four stages of life: youth, adolescence, adulthood, and old age. Today, as medical care improves, there are as many as seven, depending on how you count. This article will go through each one, listing what can be expected accordingly.

1. Infancy: When you see a baby, you can't help but smile. Helpless without their parents, babies and small children are adorable perhaps because they remain at this stage for such a short time. Babies brains are very absorbent, they learn quickly and easily. To balance this fast development, they need to sleep for up to 16 hours daily.

2. Childhood: Ranging from ages 3-12, the trendy new term for those on the cusp of puberty is 'tweens.' As kids begin to grow up, their conception of the world around them becomes more grounded and more solidified.

3. Adolescence: This range of ages is arguably the most difficult for many, as the body becomes aware of itself and how to navigate the real world. Adolescents are typically very sensitive and unsure, so it's best to treat them delicately. The body grows rapidly and eats and sleeps more now than at any other time in life.

4. The 20s: Recently psychologists have attempted to delineate the ages before true adulthood as an area of life unto itself. Young adulthood often involves a period before leaving the nest, or maybe after returning to the nest after college. These years are often accompanied with heavy debt from college and graduate schools, and are when most people enter the work force. Coming to terms with the way the world works is a valuable skill learned during these formative years.

5. Adulthood: This period used to begin as young as 18, but today may start anywhere between the ages of 25 and 30. It is when one begins a career, finds a spouse, and has a family. Financial independence is a critical aspect of these years, as is the ability to provide for others. This is also the longest period in life, lasting for approximately 40 years.

6. Old age: From age 65 on, the body begins a steady decline. Its natural functions may go awry and medical care may be necessitated. For many, one-time simple processes like going to the bathroom lead to incontinence and adult diapers like Surecare, Prevail, Attends and Tranquility. Warm weather is beneficial for older folks, as is frequent exercise. The body doesn't eat or sleep as much as when it was younger, so there is more free time. It is best for oldsters to stay occupied so as not to succumb to depression. The number of people living past 100 has dramatically increased over the past 50 years. By 2050, it is expected that 1 in 5 people will be older than 65.

Life is full of many ups and downs. Aging is the most natural. We begin, ascend, peak, decline. It is important to appreciate every part of life for what it presents. This can be difficult, especially during life's many difficulties, but it is important to being happy and successful at all ages.
